Emily Dickinson wrote, "I'm nobody, who are you?"
So, who are you?? Help me get to know you by commenting on this entry and posting the following:
1. Your name and class period
2. An odd fact about you that not many people know (something other than what you said in class!)
3. A favorite book and a description of why it's your favorite

I'll go first..
1. Charbonnet (obviously)
2. I once spent a day in a prison.
3. The easy answer here is Catcher in the Rye- I try to read CITR at least once a year. Holden is basically my hero. But I love love love George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series. He's the most realistic fantasy writer I've ever read; he has no problems killing off main characters (even if they're kids, animals, or characters he's spent 300 pages developing.) He just doesn't write like most fantasy writers; there isn't a lot of magic hocus-pocus nonsense, in fact there's very little and most of the characters refuse to acknowledge that it even exists. Check him out!
1. Chelsea Ellithorpe, 3rd (hopefully it's ok to fill this out before school starts)
2. A dog saved me from drowning when I was three.
3. Actually, I thought Slaughterhouse-five was a great book. I liked the way Vonnegut described the random events of the novel and the humor he used. I really loved The Lovely Bones. It is an amazing novel that turns death and loss into something hopeful and peaceful. The reader is able to see that life goes on after death. Life is short, so we shouldn't waste it. It's important to focus on the good things in life.
1. Brandon Dahler, 3rd period
2. I was struck by lightning... 'nuff said.
3. I don't read books much but I enjoyed Digital Fortress by Dan Brown (heard of it randomly from my math teacher a while back). Other types of books that I liked were things such as Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Lord of the Files, and even Slaughterhouse Five.
Generally I enjoy reading e-books over normal books I guess because of the clearness and adjustable zoom, things like that. I find it very hard to concentrate on a normal book, not sure if it is the physical turning of the pages or the fact that I'm easily distracted such that I lose my place a lot.
PS: It really is 12:40am.
1. Jared French, 4th
2. I have a recording studio inside of my house.
3. I'm not a huge reader really. However, one of my favorite books is Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt. I love his humor throughout the novel even though the situations are so depressing. Honestly, the thing I liked most was just the content. It was the first novel that I read in school that was so "adult." His Irish accent and diction placed the cherry on top of the title for me.
1. Lisa Erin Wang - 7th
2. I take private classical voice lessons, and I was awarded first place in my division in a Memphis-wide voice competition.
3. I have many favorites, and it's so hard to choose. I love Harry Potter, the Guardians of Time trilogy, and the Gemma Doyle Trilogy, but I would have to say my favorite would be the Twilight Saga. Yes, these are the books that everyone has been ranting and raving over. I had thought that they were ridiculous before, but friends kept recommending them to me. One night I actually had a dream about this saga, so the next day I decided it was high time for me to read them. I read the first one in less than 24 hours, and I do not think a book has ever made me smile so much. I cannot wait for the movie, but it probably will not be as good as the book (just as the Harry Potter movies do not do the books justice). In terms of school reading, I would actually have to say that Jane Eyre is my favorite. I had read it once before it was required in tenth grade honors English, and I absolutely loathed it. When I read it in Mr. Gillespie's class, though, I finally found it very enjoyable once I understood what it was about. I felt like I could relate to Jane, and I would have to say that she is probably one of my literary heroes.
1. Yiyi
2. I own a chinchilla.
3. The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. It's a classic book but it's not very well known or widely studied. It's a great mystery (and one of the first) with twists and turns, but also the organization of the novel is really interesting. It's written as letters and diary entries from various characters and it makes a lot of sense. Most of the characters are likeable.
1. Landon Blankenship
2. I'm an avid sailor and enjoy wind more than the average person. I also ride my bike everywhere, even though I own a jeep. (saves money) and it's awesome, and it saves the environment! I suggest it!
3. Id have to agree with Ms. Charbonnet on Catcher in the Rye because of its simplicity and outlook on life in general. I also really enjoy reading Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. Not so much for the writing style but the true story of Christopher McCandless. His adventures to find truth by living completely independent from material things and society inspire me to be in touch with nature and discover who I truly am without the media having to do anything with it. I highly suggest it if you like wildlife books or any writings by Jack London.
p.s. (the movie was also pretty good) but it doesn't do the book justice.
Period 3
1. Boers, Sean S. My social security number is... Oh, wait, this is the internet.
2. Once upon a time, I broke a toilet at work. You heard about it in class, but in more detail (I felt obligated to explain, since Mrs. Charbonnet didn't want to ask anymore):
It was an interesting night; I had gotten called in because one of my fellow Dream Livers had gotten fired that night. I worked with Jerrbear for most of the night, and he was grumpy, but he left about sevenish and Jose took over so it was super dooper from then on (sixteen dollars in tips when we don't work for them - a very good night).
I was closing that night, and part of my closing duties for Living the Dream (tm) (bussing tables) is mopping the entire restaurant. So I went into the bathroom with my mop and my iPod turned up max volume on the mindless trash I listen to (I think the song was a rather colorful live version of Blink-182 - Josie, so you can get to know me better...) - big mistake to begin with, but Jose is cool with it on occasion.
Here's the part where it gets a little weird. I was mopping the middle stall in the men's room, and then the aliens came and tried to abduct me or a ghost came out of nowhere or something. The mop somehow came to be between my feet and where I was walking. I was violently pushed forward by the aliens, and my shoulder went into the seat of the toilet. The seat of the toilet went into the tank (where all the plumbing, etc. is held), and left a huge mark. While focusing on the large dent the seat left in the housing, I failed to realize that the tank had went into the wall. There was a large hole in the bottom right corner. Water was spilling out of said hole, and flooding the restroom.
An hour of violent cursing later (Jose said it was only about thirty seconds, but what does he know?), Jose and Lauren showed up giggling. That is, until they saw the floor. My response: "well, Jose, at least the mopping's done." Jose told me that, ordinarily he'd say that he's done much worse, but this time I'd messed up good. Oops. I ended up having to have the water shut off for the entire building so I could squeegee the leakage into the drain. I stayed until Jose closed the restaurant for manager-employee bonding/punishment from the god I don't believe in (he's actually pretty cool, but I didn't want to be there until midnight. He let me fuel my addiction a few times throughout the night, so I guess it worked out all right). I wrote Jesse (the opening manager for the next morning) a note explaining what happened, and signed it with "Love and kisses, your pal Sean. XOXOXO." I have not gotten fired. Silly Cici's, they don't know anything.
And, just to meet the obligation of something I haven't said in a class, I made some wicked awesome breakfast burritos this summer while surfing with my uncle in California. Beach cooking rocks so hard.
3. As for my favorite book, there are a few; apparently, readers become leaders so I've got several.
One of them is Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club. Palahniuk's writing could be vaguely considered as satire; he is one of the few authors whose symbolism I pick up easily. Fight Club is about a schizophrenic, who does some dumb things, starts some sort of bar fighting cult that eventually tries to take over the world. He ends up eating a gun on top of an exploding building. The plot itself is very interesting, but it's rather Holdenesque in its portrayal of human nature (I sort of liked Catcher in the Rye, but it's not among my favorites). Rather colorful; probably won't be on any of your school reading lists. Another of his novels, Survivor, is pretty good as well.
Another is Tucker Max's I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell. It is pure comedy and it is also mindless trash with no point other than to make me giggle (right up my alley, actually). Do not bring it to school or bad things will eventually happen to you. (Profane, rather colorful subject matter, excessive drunkenness, etc. etc. etc.)
Finally, Steven Pressfield's Gates of Fire. It's also pretty vulgar, but I could see that being on a reading list. It deals with the Spartans at Thermopylae. Think 300 sans comic book stuff and kicking random horsemen into bottomless pits.
There are more, but I lost most of your attention after the fight with a toilet sequence, so I'll digress. Kudos to you if you made it this far.
1. Jake Strawn, 7th period
2. Going back to what Chelsea said, my sister-in-law and I almost drowned in the ocean on a trip to Destin! We went out too far and the undertoe was awful...but i saved us so it all worked out.
3. Going back to freshmen year, one of my favorite books has been Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird.I enjoyed reading about the time period. Lee described the thoughts of two innocent children on the contoversial issues of that time. The movie was great too!
1. Kelsey Evans (3rd period)
2. I'm terrified of birds.
3. One of the best books I have ever read was The Glass Castle. The fact that it is a true story involving a young woman's struggle to become something more than her poor social class is amazing to people of all economic statuses. Along with the touching storyline, the style and grace with which the author writes is both inspiring and unbelievable considering the unavailability of a quality childhood education.
1. Bradley Bowen, 4th
2. I have 4 brothers and three sisters and we are all adopted.
3. My favorite book that I read so far has got to be The Things They Carried, because it wasn't like a traditional war story, which often bore me. I also liked it because Tim O'Brien's writing style is very similar to that of Ernest Hemingway. Other one of my favorites would have to be Their Eyes Were Watching God.
1. Emily Leturno
2. I have been in three plays at the Harrell.
3. On of my favorite books is Girl With a Pearl Earring. At first I thought it was ok, but when I read it a second time in tenth grade, I loved it! It seemed to be one of those books that I just didn't want to put down. The story is an interpretation behind the Renoir painting Girl With a Pearl Earring and it gives a glimpse into what life was like in that time period.
Also, back in middle school, when I had a lot more free time, I loved Mary Higgins Clark novels. To me at least, they were very suspenseful and by the end, I hated to put them down.
1. Becca Gahan, 4th :)
2. I was born on a Friday the 13th
3. "Redeeming Love" because it's the only book I have ever read where I have never wanted to put it down!
1.Mark Boudreau 4th
2.When I was five, I accidentally used dog shampoo to wah my hair.
3.My favorite book has to be Dune. I love science fiction and in my opinion Dune is the greatest science fiction novel ever written. It is also one of the few books that when I read it, I had a very hard time putting it down.
1. Geritt Smith, 3rd
2. I am a huge outdoors person, I rock climb, hike, camp, and a load of other stuff.
3. I do not read a whole lot anymore because of all the school books we read. However, my favorite book is Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy. It is not a classic, but I love the action in it.
1. Michael Bradshaw
2. I am in a harcore band
3. I don't really like to read much, but I did really like Slaughterhouse Five. Even though it jumped around alot, it was really entertaining and funny. I liked how Billy just breezed his way through life.
1. Brianna Spears, 3rd period
2. I went on a two-day cruise with my dad on U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt when we were stationed in Virginia Beach, Va.
3.I don't really have a favorite book. I read way too much for just one favorite. But I would have to say that Jane Eyre and Dandelion Wine are pretty close to the top of my list. I read Jane Eyre for the first time in fifth grade and loved it. I've read it at least once a year since then. As for Dandelion Wine, Mrs. Guthrie required us to read it in eighth grade. I remember hating the book when I read then, Mrs. Guthrie wanted us to read for the tiniest, most irrelevant details sometimes. I think my friends and I failed most of the quizes on that book. However, I went back and read it during ninth grade and I realized why she had pushed that book so much. Yes, its full of useless Ray Bradbury details that noone needs to know, but the message and idea behind it was amazing and I've read it every year since then. "My dear, you will never understand time, will you? You're always trying to be the things you were, instead of the person you are tonight."
1. Mary Strickland 3rd
2. I spent 3 weeks in New Zealand in 8th grade
3. I don't usually like to read, but my favortie book is The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. The book is cute and has many different adventures and really good description.
1. Hannah Ray, 3rd
2. I am half Korean.
3. I enjoy reading, but only certain books really keep my attention. I love books about family and especially ones with happy endings! My favorite book is also The Secret Life of Bees. The story is so sweet and full of love and the descritptions are fantastic.
1. Arie Mansolino
2. Like three years ago I accidentally drank finger nail polish remover
3. JANE EYRE!!! Its probably one of the very few books I ever finshed and I love love stories :)
1. Megan Brack 3rd period
2. My friends and I were in Destin and while two of us were in the water we noticed something really dark and really big swim past us. Thinking it may be a shark we got out of the water as fast as we could. Later we were told by the life guards to stay out of the water because there was about a 5 foot shark swimming close to the shore, right where we had seen it earlier.
3. I think my favorite book(s) would have to be the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series. It's really easy for me to connect with what the 4 girls are going through and I can sort of put myself in the story, so to speak.
1. Ashley Crockett, 4th Period
2. I'm the editor-in-chief of CHS's Dragon Spirit newspaper and plan on going to Mizzou's journalism college.
3. Gone with the Wind is amazing, and I've read it around four times, plus the sequel Scarlett twice. I'm a big fan of stories set in the past, especially all Jane Austen novels. Any book with in-depth details, a deeper plot than what's on the surface, and a love story (I'm a romantic) is my first pick to read.
1. Casey Beck (3rd)
2. I've flown an airplane!
3. Honestly, I do not really like to read that much, but there has been a few books that i enjoyed being forced to read. Suprisingly, I loved Crime and Punishment. In the beginning I was extremely bored and dreaded even opening it, but once I got to a certain point in the book I started to appreciate the pages and pages of detail from the first one hundred pages or so. One reason I like the book is it's kind of like a Russian chick-flick. There is tons of drama and conflict, love and break-ups,and a happy ending.
Another book I like is a book I had to read my sophmore year. The Hot Zone was a book I randomly chose from a reading list, but I immediately liked it. It was about this new disease that began spreading and doing horrible things to people. Scientists tested and researched and finally contained it in the end. The main reason I like this book is it is one of the reasons I started wanting to go into some biology field and maybe one day study things like diseases, too.
1. Megan Whitten, 4th
2. The only reason I got into sports is because of my two older brothers.
3. My favorite book is Even Now by Karen Kingsbury. I actually love all of her stories, but this one kind of hit me the deepest. It's about lost love and how the couple finds their way back to each other many years later.
1. Lauren Logan, 4th
2. I won a beauty pageant when I was seven years old.
3. I hardly ever find a book that I actually enjoy reading. However, I liked Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. It was an awe-inspiring love story, and I consider Janie a role model because she lived her life the way she wanted to and didn't care what other people thought about her.
1. Caroline Young, 3rd
2.I've met Orlando Bloom and this summer in New York City, I met Chris March from Project Runway (if anyone knows who that is) :D
Also, I've had the same best friend for 12 years!
3. The Secret Garden-Francis Hodgson Burnett. I've loved the movie as long as I can remember and I was blown away by the book in 7th grade. It's a story about an unhappy, bratty orphan girl who goes to live with her uncle in the English countrysde. She discovers a secret garden on the grounds and by tending to the garden, discovers life isn't so bad. I love to be outdoors and I love to grow things...so, that's probably why I like it.
1. Harrison Bogema, 7th
2. My favorite animals are snakes.
3. I like a large array of books, from books I've had to read for school to books I've heard about and read to sci-fi books I just wanted to read. Therefor it's hard to choose a favorite from all 3 categories and I will have to pick a few. My favorites are Snow Falling on Cedars because of the suspense and story-line, Farewell to Arms because of the action and romance, and Michael Crichton in general. Sphere, Congo, and Jurassic Park are great science fiction novels that are exciting and keep you reading till the end. So those are my favorite books >.<
1. Chandler Carr
2.I love Fly Fishing and Photography
3.Tuthfully i am not a huge reader until i pick up a book that turns out to be really good and i can really get into it. The things They Carried has definatly been one of the top books i have read. It was like once i picked it up i just could not put it back down, and thats rare for me. i did not say it doesnt not happen but it is just rare haha.
1. Andrew Dawson, 4th
2. I enjoy a jovial round of croquet or a heated match of table tennis.
3. My favorite book is Green Mile by Stephen King. I read it last school year, and it was a much needed departure from the daunting depth of the classics we read in school. I love King's quirky anecdotes, such as making his first-person narrator experience a bout of urinary infection that made his excrements "burn like coal-oil." If I had one wish it would be to have the creativity and drive of a writer like King who can pump out novels like they're going out of style.
1. Tiffany King
2. Odd thing about me, other than being A.D.D, I am O.C.D. and I stunted my own growth. As if being 5'11" isn't tall enought, I was predicted to be at least 6'3", and that was at least. But my doctor said that the heavy consumption of caffinated products such as coffee stunted my growth.
3. The Secret Garden it's the only book I read as a child that wasn't a mystery book and that I enjoyed. I have a velvet cover copy of the book and own the movie. It was a book that I read and didn't want to put down. Since that doesn't happen that often it is one of my favorites.
oh and I'm in 7th period
1.Alyx Adams, 3rd
2.I once won $400 for drawing a piece of paper.
3. I love the book Me and Emma by Elizabeth Flock because it was long, it was really well written, and it had a crazy amazing surprise ending.
1. Alisa Secrist
2. I used to take dance classes, but I had to stop because of band, so now my spare time I enjoy dancing.
3. I'm a very slow reader, so the only books I really read are school required books. My favorite would probably be The Great Gatsby, because I didn't feel like I was reading. I felt connected with the relationships and conflicts between characters. Also, I loved the movie, too!)
O, I'm in 4th period.
1. Kayleigh Robinson
2. my index toes are a little longer than my big ones.
3. I haven't read as much lately, but I'd have to say that my favorite book ever is probably "Running With Scissors" by Augusten Burroughs. Its really weird, random, and funny.
1. Jana Whiteside, 4th
2. I play guitar, or at least try. And I like dinosaurs.
3. My favorite book would have to be David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. Admittedly it was a beast of a book to read, but I really loved the storyline and the characters. Also, I was going through a hard time in my life when I read it, and he had it a heck of a lot worse than I did. :)
1. CJ McCrory
2. I love everything about France. The language is amazing, the country is beautiful, and the literature is so descriptive.. even though I can't read it yet. (:
3. My favorite book of all time is definitely Fishbowl by Sarah Mlynowski. It is a mature-type book, but it tells an interesting story that can actually happen. In second would be Walking Across Egypt by Clyde Edgerton (I was in standard 9th and 10th English), and third would definitely be Catcher in the Rye.
1. Leah Albers, 3rd period
2. I only lived in the city were I was born for 5 weeks.
3. I love to read autobiographies were people write about their amazing stories. This summer I read Escape by Carolyn Jessop, which was her story of how she escaped polygamy. It instantly became one of my favorites.
1. Jessica Mobbs-3rd period
2. I kickbox and won 4th in the IKF World Championship '06
3. Catcher in the Rye-I only enjoy reading things that I can relate to and for some reason I feel like I relate to Holden. He tries to be a good person but makes mistakes just like in the real world. He also has a pretty negative outlook on everything, which I am kind of drawn to.
1. Alyssa Stanford, 7th period.
2. Liz Durrett is my muse.
3. I generally like books that are meant to be hurled across a room. Some of these books include: Teach Me by R.A. Nelson, Let's Get Lost by Sarra Manning, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen, Riding Lessons by Sara Gruen, Night by Elie Wiesel, and an old favorite, Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.
1. Bethany Roberson
2. One time I fell asleep in 7th grade and got my braces stuck to my book cover.
3. I would have to agree with the girl that helped me pick out my basically amazing cleats (becca gahan)and say Redeeming Love. I think I read the entire thing in under 4 days- which is a big deal for me.
it's bethany again...
by the way, i'm in 4th period
1. Lyndi Mabry, 3rd Period
2. On Wednesday August 13, 2008, my mom had another baby. My third brother. Parker Reid, 8 pounds, 21 inches long.
3. Truthfully, I loved The Namesake. I loved the story. The battles he faced were easy to relate to and my family, despite the fact that I don't always get along with my family, I love them. They are the most important thing to me.
1. Graham Davis, 4th
2. I was born in Indianapolis and lived there for 9 years. Needless to say, I am a die hard Colts fan and will let any haters have it.
3. Tuesdays With Morrie is probably my favorite book, but I really like Mitch Albom in general. His style is so clever and it makes his books really easy reads but turns it around to make you think hard about life. I'd recommend any of his works.
1. Kate Sutherland, 7th
2. I am addicted to the Lord of the Rings movies.
3. To Kill A Mockingbird- I had to read it freshman year and I love it because of the way Scout narrates it; her innocence and charm make the book lovable.
1. Ryan Jones - 4th
2. A few things: I am learning to play guitar, I was born in Washington, D.C., and I have been in several operas (non-singing parts).
3. My favorite book is probably Heart of Darkness, simply because of the themes and hidden meanings that were discovered from analyzing the text. Patriot Games by Tom Clancy is a pretty close second. Overall, I enjoy reading books that make you think. When I have time, I am currently reading Rainbow Six, by Tom Clancy, and I would like to read The Godfather by Mario Puzo.
1. Alex Bradshaw, 3rd
2. I work at a toystore, but i hate little kids.
3. I'm not a big fan of reading, but one of the best books i have read is Catcher in the Rye. I liked it because it is easy to relate to and also contains a good bit of comedy.
1)Chloe Briscoe, 7th period
2)I have played piano for 8 years and i love it!
3) I love to read so I truthfully have so many books that are my favorites, but I'd have to say that A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett is the best book ever! the message is so sweet and true and the way that Burnett writes just brings the reader into the story so simply but beautifully.
1. Matt Donahoo, 3rd period
2. I am hoping to get a four year nrotc scholarship.
3. One of my favorite books is Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. One of my favorite lines sums it up. "Teacher seeks pupil. Must have an earnest desire to save the world. Apply in person."
1. Skylar Roberson, 3rd period
2. I was the first woman born on my dad's side in 60 years.
3. I'm honestly not a huge reader unless i can get into the book. Though, last year i had the chance to read Lucky by Alice Sebold and i could not put it down. I love how Sebold thook her own life story to write about. Yes, her story was very heart breaking and vivid with disturbing detail, but it hits the hearts of many with the fact her case is very similar to several young ladies. As she shares her life as a trauma victim, the quote "You save yourself or you remain unsaved" is mentioned. This quote to me means that yourself must find who you are and understand what happened or you will never be able to be saved because no one else will ever understand what you've gone through.
1. Adam Drescher (3rd)
2. I was the lead actor in the 5th grade play "It's A Family"
3. I have two favorites.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six - A ridiculously awesome action book, great plot line development.
Stephen Colbert's I Am America (And So Can You!) - A very hilarious book.
1. Kristina Berard 4th
2. I was a twin when I was born.
3. One of my favorite books is Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare. I love how this woman survives in a man's world!
1. Madison Long, 7th
2. I am terrified of riding bumper boats.
3. My favorite book is A Confederacy of Dunces. It is definitely weird and definitely funny, which is the best thing about it. The reason it's so funny is all the main character, Ignatius Reilly, who is....crazy. But not in the all over the place kind of way-- in the serious, funny way that is hard to explain. So I guess you'll have to check it out yourself!
1. Isaiah Moore, 4th period
2. I ran into a brick wall at full speed in 3rd grade.
3. For some odd reason, The Chosen still seems to be one of my favorite books after reading it the summer prior to starting 10th grade. The way Potok shows the characters in different stages of life seems so realistic, as if I am actually witnessing them grow.
1. Kellye Oldham, 4th
2. I have four horses. When my aunt and uncle die, i will inherit 3.3 million dollars because they do not have any children. I am the closest child they have.
3. I love all of the Harry Potter books. I could not put them down. I kept wanting to turn the page to figure out what was going to happen next. I also loved Their Eyes Were Watching God. She goes through so much and yet she survives and is stronger from her experiences.
1. Andrea Braxton
2.I make my own sound effects.
3. I love the entire Lord of the Rings series, but my favorite one is The Two Towers. I'm a big fan of fantasy books and movies, and I think Tolkien is the best fantasy writer ever. I enjoy his vivid description and his creation of interesting characters. I also think it is cool that he created all of those different languages for all the creatures. I think he is the most creative and original writer there ever was. The movies really don't do the books justice. Oh, by the way, I've read the series eight times (yeah, I'm a freak).
I forgot to add that I am in 4th period.
1. Mallory Campbell, 4th period
2. I'm adopted.
3. I guess one of my favorite "classic" books, as you like to call them, is The Great Gatsby. I love the way Fitzgerald writes and Mr. Campbell opened my eyes to the wonders of Fitzgerald's work last year. Definitely my favorite book on any school list so far.
Wow, I put the wrong period. Long day :X
I'm in 4th, sorry.
1. Lucy Dean 3rd
2. I have a phobia of those pool robot things that scoot around the bottom of the pool. I will not get in the pool if its in there.
3. I'm not a huge reader...I do like blogs. haha.
But I guess one of my all time faves would be In Harms Way. Its about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis and how the crew had to spend 4 days stranded at sea. I loove reading about anything WW2..its just amazing.
1. Justin Campbell 4th
2. I won't turn 18 until after I start my freshman year of college.
3. The Hot Zone- It actually keeps your attention throughout the book. It's just one of those books that you can't stop reading.
1. Grant Hankinson, 4th period
2. The summer after sophomore year I travelled to Brazil to train for soccer, and I met one of the Brazil national team players.
3. My favorite book is easily Call of the Wild. I have been reading this book since I was little, and Jack London is probably my favorite author. Whenever I read the book I just can not seem to put it down until I finish.
1. Haley Greenwell. 3rd. :)
2. I can do the bellyroll and one of my deepest fears is being attacked by a raccoon.
3. I agree with Mrs. Charbonnet in that Catcher in the Rye has to be one of my favorite books. I love the symbolism throughout the book as well as the language and other detials that Salinger uses so that the reader can really relate to Holden. I'm also a huge Harry Potter nerd, as most everyone probably knows. I lovelovelove Ron and the way J.K. Rowling engulfs her readers into this magical, amazing world that we would have never imagined before. :)
1. Shannon Clubb, 7th period
2. I met Richard Simmons at the Memphis airport, and he looks exactly the same in person (the shorts too!).
3. I don't do much reading outside of school due to the constant books assigned, but sophomore year Mrs. Albee let us pick from a list of books, and I picked and soon loved Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane. The true story of this man's life was depressing and inspirational, and, at the same time, it taught me a lesson about the apartheid.
1. Libby Perry 3rd
2. I am terrified of butterflies. Don't ask why. Don't make fun.
3. I used to be a really big reader, but not so much now because I'm so busy reading what I have to for school. But ironically my two favorite books are from assigned reading. I loved The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom because the two sisters manifest God's love towards everyone they meet, not just other Christians! My other fav is The Catcher in the Rye, which I read last year for Campbell. It's so honest and reflective of the teenage psyche, that at times it made me laugh out loud and at others it made me want to cry. Also Holden is exactly, exactly, exactly like this boy I've known for my entire life who just graduated from Gtown. Kinda funny.
Oh yeah, I would also have to agree with Becca and Bethany that Redeeming Love is pretty amazing too!
1. Justin Lyle, (Chachie), 4th period
2. I'm pretty good with anything involving numbers
3. I'd say the Left Behind Series; no one particular one book in the series stood out, but the message as a whole from the series and the way it is described (Jesus Christ and the Rapture) was incredibly interesting to me.
And I'm terribly sorry the post was late!
1. Rachel Joines, 7th period.
2. I am completely & madly in love with 2 men in this world: John Krasinski (The Office) & Joe Jonas (Jonas Brothers) :)
3. I really do like to read, I just wish I had more time too. But my two favorite books of all time would have to be Go Ask Alice and Flowers in the Attic. Both of which are extremely dark & twisted, but that's why I like them. Go Ask Alice is one of my favorites because the reader is able to see this young innocent girl get caught up in the world of drugs, & completely ruin her life, which most people wouldn't find a good read, I like the struggle that she goes through because it was real. & Flowers in the Attic I read in like 6th grade, even though it was probably way too mature for me, but I love it because it is just so out there & weird. Both books I still love to sit down & skim through occasionally :)
1. Laura Leigh Buatt 3rd
2. I absolutely love cajun food!!!
3. Jane Eyre! With all the drama that happens in this book, I can hardly put it down. I think it is the first book that I have finished before the due date.
1. Brandon Kelly (7th)
2. I broke my leg when I was 3 by jumping off the arm rest of a couch.
3. I am a fan of John Steinback. I really liked his book The Black Pearl. I read it back in middle school and loved it. I loved the story and the conflict, it was so different from anything I had read before. The mystery of the gigantic perfectly rounded black pearl and the chaos that ensues because of its discovery kept me from putting the book down.
1. Chris Choe (7th)
2. I spent spring break of last year
in Munich, Germany and Paris, France.
3. My personal favorite is The Great Gatsby. The characters in the novel are interesting, especially Jay Gatsby. I also particularly like the setting, the Booming Twenties. The element of mystery and exciting plot is another big plus.
1. Benjamin Chung, 7th period
2. My legs are skinnier than most of the girls at my church.
3. The Scarlet Letter was my favorite book. I loved this book because it included the topics of love and religion. Through this book, the reader can relate to the main character's sins because things like adultery still exist in our world today.
1. Kristen O'Connor, fourth period
2. I plan on becoming a professional photographer. Skah-doosh !
3. My all-time favorite book is Stephen Colbert's I Am America (And So Can You!). There has never been another book, movie, or television show, other than Stephen Colbert's very own nightly show, that has made me laugh quite as much. I consider Mr. Colbert one of the most intelligent people I've ever come across, but the kicker is his sarcasm. It is unlike any other comedian you'll ever hear. And the best thing of all is that he talks about important topics. He is a political guru (he participated in the presidential campaign for the current elections, though I think it was more of a joke). So, to sum up Mr. Colbert, he is a HILARIOUSLY sarcastic political genius. What a hunk!
His book is beyond words. He is the guy who says what everyone else is thinking but too scared to say out loud. And he can get away with all of these rude, sometimes controversial comments in his book because...he's just so darn funny. It's a shame he's triple my age and with family. ;)
Really?... I said fourth period, but I meant seventh period. I was close...
This post is way late because apparently I wrote on the wrong thing last week! Better late than never I suppose. I am Hillary Vance. 4th Period. My interesting fact is that I am able to eat, a LOT. I love food. More than anyone probably. I enjoy going to Piccadilly with my grandfather. It brings me joy. My favorite author is Emily Griffin! She is so great! Her 3 novels, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and Love the One You're With are my favorites. She is so good at having the reader want to be in the story and relate to the character. So that's my story. See you in 4th period!
This post is really late b/c i got in the class late but w/e.
1)I'm Jake Latham (7th period)
2) I just moved back to Collierville after living in Alabama for a year.
3)The Blackwater Series....I like mystery suspense books and all the books in this series give you that. Its a kind of horror/suspense series and its fun to read from the first book to the last.
